In July, Ceramics launched a 1.325MW photovoltaic power generation project in their Zhengzhou plant, which marks a solid step for the BU in promoting clean energy usage and achieving carbon neutrality goals.
This project utilizes the rooftop of the plant, covering a total area of approximately 9,783 square meters. The annual output of this photovoltaic power generation system is expected to reach 1.3255 million kilowatt hours, equivalent to a reduction of 955 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, with a system lifespan of up to 25 years. It not only contributes a lot to the plant's energy-saving and emission-reduction efforts, but also demonstrates their commitment to environmental protection and social responsibility.
Meanwhile, the introduction of the system reduces the plant's utility cost and improves its economic benefits. By utilizing the clean solar energy, the plant will optimize its energy structure and improve its energy efficiency.
In 2023, Zhengzhou plant purchased a total of 53,468 megawatt hours (MWh) of green electricity, making significant contributions to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable development. Now, the launch of the photovoltaic power generation project signifies that the plant has also begun to generate their own green electricity. Through a range of green initiatives, the plant is steadily progressing towards a more environmentally friendly, efficient, and sustainable future, in line with Saint-Gobain's carbon neutrality target for 2050.
